Describe your business:
We farm about 285 acres of land east of Manhattan, Kansas that has been certified organic since 1996. I’ve been selling organic hogs to Organic Valley since 2004 using the organic grains and soybeans that I grow. We pasture farrow sows and finish hogs on ground rotated with organic crops.The pork cuts that I sell at Manhattan Farmers Market don’t carry the certified organic label because the hogs would have to be butchered at an organic locker, Since we are trying to sell to local customers and not ship hogs and cut up pork long distances and add cost at present we are content to just do organic hogs.
