Description
Lamb and mutton from Ox-Cart Farm are always pasture-raised and free from added ingredients and antibiotics.
I appreciate the opportunity to share with you how Ox-Cart Farm's pasture-raised lamb is produced. I am proud to be a fourth-generation farmer on my family's land in Stafford and Pratt Counties in Kansas. The pastures our sheep graze have not had herbicides or pesticides applied since I began managing the land in 2022. Our fertilizer is the manure from our own livestock. We use rotational grazing to control weeds, build our soil health, and produce healthier sheep. Our sheep spend the warmer months on our native warm-season pasture, eating native grasses and forbs with supplemental 'tree hay' that we cut from our own trees. In the colder months, they are on fields with forage specifically selected and planted to provide balanced nutrition through the winter without feeding them grain.
Our flock of hardy Katahdin mixes was established in 2023 from a flock that had been raised for generations on pasture without vaccines, wormers, or antibiotics, and we are continuing that tradition. Each year, we are building the flock and now produce enough meat to share the best with you and also provide for our own family's needs. In addition to the standard cuts and ground, we also provide lamb fries, kidneys, livers, and hearts for those who appreciate the rich nutrition in organ meats.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to hearing from you.
