Description
Pinwheel Farm is dedicated to producing and selling unique, local, sustainable, practical, beautiful products. Sheep are at the heart of the farm...we've been developing our own landrace multipurpose sheep (meat, wool, and milk) for nearly 30 years.
Meat products include retail cuts of lamb, mutton, and our signature ready-to-eat 70% mutton, 30% pork summer sausage. Our sheep are raised on pasture, browse, and hay...never grain. We only use chemical wormers or other pharmaceutical products if absolutely necessary.
Wool products including raw or prepared fibers for spinning and other crafts; handspun yarn; kits; handspun/handknit half-mittens and hats; Mobius headbands (knit on an antique circular sock machine dating back to WWI, using custom millspun yarn of our wool); dryer balls; catnip mice; cedar Moth Bothers; and more. All wool is the natural color of the animal or dyed with natural dyes...mostly locally sourced. A byproduct of our meat production is machine-washable sheepskins in a wide range of natural colors.
We use the same natural dyes on 100% silk scrunchies and scarves, including Scarf-In-A-Jar kits.
Other practical products include scrubbers made from baling twine, mutton tallow for dressing hand tools, and more.
